If you’re interested in Japan, making international friends, planning on applying for an exchange program at the University of Tsukuba, this is your chance to know more about it!

Purpose of the event

  • To deepen exchanges with students from universities in Japan (Tsukuba) and Latin America
  • To discuss global issues in English
  • To promote language and cultural exchange

Discussion Topics

  1. Big Data: How can AI, ChatGPT, Deepfake, etc. affect Democracy?
  2. Human Rights: How can economic, social and cultural rights for migrants and refugees be guaranteed?
  3. Sustainability: How can recycling and waste disposal in Latin America and Japan contribute to the world’s sustainability?

Overview

  1. Introduction of each university, cultural and language exchange
  2. Discussion on current global issues
  3. Group presentations, Q&A

Target applicants
Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a regular course at the University who are able to communicate in English

Pre-event assignment

  • Read/watch the materials provided
  • Select photos or images that represent some of the problems or issues that you can find in your country related to the topic assigned
  • Think and write about the connection between the selected photos above and the topic assigned (about one A4 page)
