We are pleased to announce that the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) will host a public session titled “Scaling Up Urban Disaster Risk Reduction in Emerging Megacities in the Asia-Pacific Region: Research, Policy, and Business Perspectives” at the upcoming Tsukuba Conference 2025, scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The session will feature two researchers from NIED, along with invited speakers from Malaysia (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), the Philippines (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority), Thailand (Bangkok Fire and Rescue Department) and Japan (Nippon Koei Research & Development Center).
Focusing on disaster resilience in megacities, the session will explore diverse perspectives not only from academic research but also from government agencies, international organizations, and private sectors. In addition to individual presentations, a panel discussion and Q&A session are planned to encourage deeper dialogue.
