Starting TOMORROW!! “Japanese Culture Week” will be held at Student Commons (1A203)!! January 21st – 23rd

The annual “Japanese Culture Week” will be held again this year to celebrate the New Year 2025 at the Student Commons (1A203)!
You can experience various aspects of Japanese culture, including KAKIZOME (calligraphy for the New Year), making NENGAJO (New Year’s greeting cards), traditional New Year games like Fukuwarai and Koma spinning, traditional Japanese music and dance live performance, and Run Run Quiz – Japanese Anime edition -. Come join us and enjoy the activities!

This event is open to everyone at the University of Tsukuba! Come experience and share the fun of the Japanese New Year and the many aspects of Japanese culture, and help us make this a great opportunity for international cultural exchange!

Note: The “Run Run Quiz – Japanese Anime Edition -” requires a reservation. The form has been closed because the number of participants has reached the limit.

Important Notice for Participants: Photos and videos will be taken during the event. These images may be used for the University of Tsukuba’s publicity (website, SNS, articles, etc.). Please participate with this in mind. If you have any concerns about the use of photos or videos, please notify us in advance.

    Why not decorate with your very own handmade shimenawa rope?

    Autumn leaves grown on campus are waiting for you!

Enjoy traditional Japanese music and dance up close, performed by student organizations from the University of Tsukuba!

Run Run Quiz – Japanese Anime Edition –

(Note: The ending time may vary slightly)

Schedule / Details
3:15 PM – 3:30 PM: Registration
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Run Run Quiz and fun game activities are being prepared!

★ You will be divided into teams and challenge a game. Search for simple quiz cards related to Japanese anime hidden around the Student Commons area, and work together with your team members to find the answers!
☆ Whether you’re an anime fan or not, come join us! Teams will be divided based on your level of anime knowledge, so there’s no need to worry!
★ You’re welcome to enter as an individual or with friends—both are great!
☆ Feel free to join the event in cosplay of Japanese Anime! (This is optional, so it’s up to you to wear a costume or not♪)
★ At the end, there might be a special gift for all participants…?!
