The Tsukuba International Association (TIA) has announced a call for paid staff for the “Tsukuba City Chat Cafe 2026” as detailed below.

Tsukuba City Chat Cafe is an English chatting event held by Tsukuba International Association cooperating with University of Tsukuba.

【Details】
About the event – The target is a people who want to have a conversation with the students of the University of Tsukuba using English. So the main language you will use is English. We don’t mind if you don’t speak Japanese. We will make 5-8 groups, and each staff will join the chatting in the each group. The chatting will be based on the topics of the day, but it is okay even if you go off track in the end. Please feel free to talk.

The event will proceed as follows :
13:00
Staff members will gather at the venue
13:00-13:30
One of you (Leader) will explain or take the lead in discussing quizzes and
activities to be done at the beginning of the second half
13:30-13:40
Leader will moderate the event and give a presentation relating to one of the chat topics of the day
13:40-14:30
Each staff member will join each group and start the chat
14:30-14:45
Break time
14:45-14:55
You will give some quizzes or activity relating to English (eg. hangman)
14:55-15:45
Each staff member will join each group and start the chat
15:45-16:00
Briefly collect supplies from each table, fill out feedback on survey form, and dismiss

Number of staff we need – 5-7 people for each session
Total hours spent at work – 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Beside that, a leader need to make a presentation slides.
Gratuity – 1,100 yen per hour. Additionally, a leader will be paid 1 hour’s pay for presentation making. (*Only for students who have residential status with working permission.)
Transportation fee (Only for the sessions at Corridoio) – If you use a bus, we will pay the full amount. If you come by bicycle, there are parking lots which can be used for free up to three hours. We will pay 150 yen for the case if you park more than three hours.
