New year event “Japanese Culture Week”! January 16th (Tue) ~ 19th (Fri) @Student Commons (1A203)

In celebration of the New Year 2024, the Student Commons (1A203) will host a “Japanese Culture Week”! You can visit and leave anytime freely!

There will be a rice cake (mochi) pounding performance (and also, you can get some!) and rice distribution! The official university merchandise shop will also be there!

You can enjoy Japanese New Year’s culture such as such as calligraphy, traditional new year’s games/decorations, Ikebana (flower arrangement), and more! Please come and visit us at 1A203! Even if you don’t participate in any workshops, you can visit us and enjoy the exhibitions and other activities!

※Some workshops/activities require registration. Registration will be opened from January. Some are available only for a limited number, so please register early!
※This event is mainly aimed at international students, but Japanese students are also welcomed!

 We take photos and videos of the event. Photos and videos taken will be used for publicity purposes (website, SNS, article publication, etc.) of the University of Tsukuba. Please understand the above before participating. Please inform us in advance if you have any concern with the use of photographs or other materials.

   Please feel free to join the workshop or visit the exhibition!

   Can you dance to BON DANCE in winter??
   「Shall we chase away the cold with dance~?」
   「Yeeaaa~!!!!」       

13:30~15:30 Craft Workshop
   Let’s make Mizuhiki (traditional knot) and pouch bag origami!
