Period of Exchange
Long Term students are invited to study for periods of one semester in the University of Tsukuba,
on the Spring (April ~ September) or the Fall (October ~ March) semester.

*If applicants would like to join the College of Japanese Language and Culture, JLPT N2 level is required. For others, TOEFL79 or Cambridge First Certificate level is required. However, no official document is necessary to be submitted.
Scholarship
We have a limited number of JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) scholarships for supporting foreign students.
Please check your eligibility by using the Excel tables of conversion depending on your home university
(GPA Calculation Table: COLMEX, GUADALAJARA, UNIANDES, PUCP, UCHILE, USP).
The minimum criteria is 2.3 of GPA in JASSO scale. All applicants are required to check their eligibility before applying.

Student Status
Long Term students can be Exchange Students (Tokubetsu Chokogakusei), students registered with minimum of 8 credits in Trans-Pacific program. (Please be aware that the content of the application documents varies according to the kind of student selected)
Mandatory classes/activities
Students should complete the following tasks:
・8 credits/semester (including International Partnership Joint Seminar (Latin America) (mandatory), seminars, classes related to their study area, and Japanese classes)
・Monthly reports (study contents of the month, extracurricular activities, plans for next month, photos, etc. AND content for the International Partnership Joint Seminar (Latin America))
・Brief presentation about their countries/universities for local students interested in Latin America
・Final report (International Partnership Joint Seminar (Latin America))
・Final presentation of the study exchange (15 minutes long)
・Alumni experience introduction (1 page long, after finishing the study exchange)
・Survey and credit transfer report (ONLY for JASSO scholars)

Nominate and Invite Students You will receive by e-mail the login code for the “Online Nomination System (for coordinators)“. Register coordinator information and nominate students. After we confirm the nominated information, you will see the “Invite” button on the screen. Click there, then the students will be mailed with the login code for the online application. |
ONLINE APPLICATION by Students (~ April 5, 2024) | |
Student | Submit Online Application Login to the “ONLINE APPLICATION System (by Students)“, fill out all the information and upload the required documents. After that, click on “Submit to Apply”. |

Confirm Student’s Online Application After you check the information submitted by the students, click the “Confirm” button to complete the online application process. |

ALL documents for application to the Trans-Pacific Program shall be sent through the Exchange Coordinator from your Home University.
Applications sent directly to the University of Tsukuba will not be considered as part of the program.

****The Tsukuba Trans-Pacific Program Long Term Program EQUALS to the Short-Term Program from the University of Tsukuba (6 months and more).
The Tsukuba Trans-Pacific Program offers a Short-Term Program (2-3 weeks and up to three months) and a Long-Term Program (6 months).
